About Andrew

I'll do this in a more casual first-person perspective for once! I'm a composer, arranger, engraver, arts administrator, music tech nerd, and human being. I've got two degrees centered on music composition and contemporary music, and my primary areas of interest are wind band and media music. If that hadn't already clued you in, I'm a huge nerd in most other areas of my life as well. I might be new to this ensemble and notably younger than the average ensemble member here, but I am very excited to be a part of its leadership as the ensemble librarian and help bring contemporary wind band music to life!

What do you enjoy the most about playing?

My favorite part about performing is being an active part of bringing music to life. It feels awesome to be working together with other people to convey stories, emotions, and ideas through my favorite medium.

Do you have a favorite musical memory?

Honestly, I've had many so they have often blended together. But perhaps one that sticks out is when one of my university professors retired from conducting, he had an excellent program with great pieces from front to back. The band played fantastically and it was a very emotional evening for all involved, both performers and the audience.

I'm very active as a curator and custom level creator for the Beat Saber modding community!

But to give an idea of the genres I listen to, here's a selection from my top genres from my whole Spotify history: alternative, electronic, rock, classical, hip-hop, j-pop, soundtrack, pop punk, indietronica, progressive metal, indie folk, chamber pop...the list goes on.
