Mark Cousins
Mark plays the Tuba and has been playing with Salem Symphonic Winds since March 2023.
Mark worked as an engineering and product manager and came to Portland in 2009. He worked and lived in Hong Kong from 2014-2021 and then retired. He’s grateful for the chance that SSW has given him to play tuba again after a 20+ year break.
What do you enjoy the most about playing?
Being the low voice (and sometimes rhythm section) in an ensemble.
Do you have a favorite musical memory?
There are so many. Playing piano and pipe organ as a child. Marching band. Conducting once.
Share a fun fact about yourself
I commute to SSW from Portland. I also enjoy flying small airplanes and have a Cessna 172 based at Hillsboro.
