Meet our musicians: Rex Cray…
Rex Cray
Instrument(s): Tuba
First performance with the band: August 2018
What I like most about playing: Striving for high-quality musicianship with other like-minded musicians.
My favorite musical memory: Performing on tuba with the University of Oregon Faculty Brass Quintet (as a student many years ago).
A fun fact about myself: I played tenor saxophone with the Albany Swing Band, with my father as the lead tenor.
Three words I would use to describe Salem Symphonic Winds: Expressive, Innovative, Dedicated
Short Bio: I began my musical studies on saxophone and later switched to tuba as my primary instrument. I spent 3 years playing tuba and sax with an Army band and several years with the Eugene Symphony. I am now happily retired from the Army and the VA.
